The Intent
01
Monthly selections spanning literary fiction, memoir and the quietly brilliant. Not the algorithm's choice — ours, debated over a second glass.

02
Connections that begin with a chapter and end with a conversation. Tea, coffee or wine, and the kind of talk that fits around real life — feeds, naps and all.

03
Children are not an afterthought here. Gatherings are planned to be held flexibly in spaces that welcome strollers, soft toys and the occasional mid-sentence interruption.

A Note from the Founder
I moved to Chester two years ago with my two-year-old, who was not yet in nursery. Now I have a newborn too, and making connections has felt harder than I expected.
Traditional clubs can be lovely, but they do not always leave room for feeds, naps, or being there for your older child’s bedtime.
I love reading and have wanted to find a book community for ages. But most evening options do not fit around a newborn, and I want to be present for my older child’s bedtime. I’ve also seen an established parent book community launching elsewhere; it sounds wonderful, but it would not help me build connections in Chester.
That is why I’m starting First Page: a welcoming book community and regular book socials for new mums around Chester and nearby areas, with the format and rhythm shaped by the people who want to come.
